QR & Barcode Reader

Decode QR codes and common 1D/2D barcodes from an image or your camera.

Upload an image containing a QR code or barcode, or point your camera at one, and get the decoded text, URL, or number instantly. Supports 2D formats like QR, Data Matrix, and Aztec plus 1D retail and logistics formats like CODE 128, EAN, and UPC. Decoding runs in your browser using the native BarcodeDetector API where supported, falling back to the ZXing library elsewhere, so scanned images are never uploaded to a server.

Common questions

Which codes are supported?

QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417, CODE 128, CODE 39, EAN, UPC, ITF, and other common ZXing formats.

Why does it use two decoders?

The native BarcodeDetector is used when available, with ZXing as the cross-browser fallback.

Does it work with a blurry or angled photo?

Sharper, well-lit, front-on images decode more reliably. Very blurry or heavily skewed codes may fail to scan.

Is the scanned image uploaded?

No - decoding happens locally in your browser, whether from an uploaded image or your live camera.
