Almost every free file converter on the web works the same way: you upload your document to someone else's server, it gets processed there, and you take their word for what happens next. Filoven was built to remove that step entirely.
How it works
Browsers can now run near-native code through WebAssembly. That means the same libraries a desktop application would use for image encoding, PDF manipulation and video transcoding can be compiled and shipped to a browser tab instead. The conversion runs on your hardware, on your file, without a round trip.
The practical effect is that there is no upload wait, no queue behind other users, no size limit imposed by a server, and nothing to delete afterwards. It also works with your network disconnected, which is the easiest way to prove the claim to yourself.
What we hold ourselves to
Local by default
129 of 133 tools run entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your file is read from disk into the tab and processed there. It is never transmitted, which means there is no retention policy to trust and no breach that could expose it.
Honest about the exceptions
Some work genuinely cannot run in a browser: OCR across a large archive, machine translation, structured extraction, transcription, image upscaling. Those run on our servers, are labelled as such on their own page, and cost credits. We would rather label them than claim a guarantee we cannot keep.
No signup wall
Browser-based tools need no account, no email and no trial. They are not a lead magnet with a countdown attached. Output is never watermarked on any plan.
Paid by the people who need scale
The free tools are funded by Pro and Business subscriptions, credit packs and API usage, not by advertising or by selling data. That is the whole business model, and it is why there are no ads on a free tool page.
